Switzerland · Home Turf & the Alps
The country Kevin actually lives in — and where most of the real climbing on this whole site happens.
Everything on this page is reachable without a plane ticket — Bargen, near Bern, is home base, and the rest fan out from there: the Jura plateau on the French border at Goumois, Ticino's Verzasca Valley in the south, the Valais and Grand St Bernard toward Italy, and the single hardest day of climbing on the entire site, out toward the Stelvio on the Graubünden/Italian border.
This is the pillar with the most rides and the most repeat visits — when the riding is this close to home, you go back. Goumois is also listed on the France pillar, since several of its rides genuinely cross the border, not just the village itself.
The riding straight out the front door — Chasseral, Lake Biel, Lake Murten, Zug, and a gravel loop at Erlach.
5 ridesUp from Tenero to Sonogno, the famous dam, and an emerald river worth stopping for.
2 ridesA village split by the Doubs and the Swiss–French border — and the riding actually crosses it, not just the map line.
6 ridesThe pass itself, plus a lesser-known climb up to the Bionaz reservoir the next day.
2 ridesThe hardest day Kevin has ever ridden — four passes, 3,027m of climbing, one legendary road.
