Scotland · Argyll & Bute

A short camper trip out west from the Central Belt — the Cowal peninsula, the Kyles of Bute, and the Crinan Canal.

Argyll is a proper trip out from home turf, not a training loop — out past Loch Lomond and down the Cowal peninsula to the water. Two rides logged here, two days apart in June 2024: a short gravel spin along Loch Riddon into Tighnabruaich, looking straight across the Kyles of Bute at the Isle of Bute, and the Crinan Canal towpath further north, ridden both ways in one sitting.

The scale of it (from Strava): 2 rides logged so far, 10–12 June 2024, both flat/short by Gravel Health standards — a handful more rides sit nearby in the wider Argyll area (Dunoon, Ardrishaig, Tarbert, Skipness) not yet written up.

The two rides built so far

The Cowal peninsula and the Crinan Canal, roughly a 2–3 hour drive west of home turf.

📝 Kevin — needs your input

  • Were Dunoon, Ardrishaig, Tarbert and Skipness the same trip, or separate visits — worth their own pages?
  • Was this a camper trip (Hymer) or a day drive out and back?
