Switzerland · Jura Plateau · The Biggest Day
A blanket of fog sat over home for days — so the answer was to drive to Saignelégier and outride it, finishing in the dark.
Ridden 29 November 2014, logged as a Strava monthly challenge completed, with the full story in Kevin’s own words: "A blanket of fog sits in the area were we live and stays for days. Decided on a trip to Saignelgier for the challenge this month. Last 2 hours completed in the dark..."
At 131.3km it’s by a wide margin the longest ride in the Goumois history on this site — nearly double the next longest — and the only one deliberately finished after dark.
Route data (from Strava): 131.3km, 2,246m of climbing, max grade 22.9% — the biggest single day anywhere in the Goumois rides, both for distance and for climbing.
The route, from Kevin's own GPS track
The actual recorded route, plotted from Kevin's own Strava FIT data onto a real OpenStreetMap base.
📝 Kevin — needs your input
What lights were you running for the last two hours in the dark — worth a gear-recs angle here?
Was this the same loop as the other Saignelégier rides extended further, or a genuinely different route out?
