An earlier home base, before Bargen — and the same Chasseral climb, approached from a different direction.
Before the rides settled around Bargen, Le Landeron and nearby Lignières — both on the north shore of Lake Neuchâtel — were the base for a run of hard climbing days in March–April 2012, most of them up onto the same Chasseral ridge that's now written up as a Home Turf ride from the Bargen side. Lignières carries a handful of shorter, messier rides from 2011–2012, several logged with GPS/Garmin problems noted at the time.
Six rides logged from Le Landeron over a five-week stretch in March–April 2012, most of them climbing-heavy days that repeatedly mention the same Jura ridge later built as the Chasseral page from the Bargen side. Kevin's own notes: "Very hard day" on the first (1 April); "Top of Chasseral closed" a fortnight earlier (17 March); and on 25 March, "Hard ride. Very windy day. Twice up the Chasseral." The biggest single day, 1 April 2012, logged 2,981m of climbing — more than double the Bargen-side Chasseral ride's 1,451m, suggesting a much longer loop was involved.
A handful of rides logged from Lignières village, up the hill from Le Landeron, in 2011–2012 — all considerably shorter (13–25km) than the Landeron climbing days, and several with acknowledged GPS trouble: one is titled simply "Wrong again," another "Mileage completely wrong," with the note "Garmin dets wrong again." Presented honestly here rather than treated as reliable stats.
